I just have to share how happy I was to see a nicely decorated "diner" with a good menu in Bells Corners. I've only been to Scotty's once but I've been to the business that occupied this space previously and it is way cooler now. Don't let the name fool you... There is a full bar.
Nice to have an alternative with an East Coast theme. They have the authentic garlic cheese bread and a decent fish and chips like you would find in NS. We're talking hand made, battered to order with fresh chips, and not the usual mushy pub stuff. I had the lunch special: grilled chicken and Swiss melt with a salad for only $10.
All huge and delicious as you can see from the pictures. Our waitress was very efficient and friendly. I will be back :) -

I had dinner here with my husband and father-in-law recently and overall it was good, but will depend on what you order. The food is typical diner/pub, so don't expect anything too fancy or exotic.
I had the All Star Chicken Sandwich with fries ($13.99), my husband had the Liver and Onions with fries ($13.99), and my father-in-law had the small Hawaiian Pizza ($13).
The chicken sandwich usually comes on a bun with seeds on it, and since I can't eat sesame seeds or poppy seeds, I asked to have it on a plain bun. They were happy to substitute the usual bun with a hoagie roll. I had asked for the chipotle mayo on the side (since I find that generally restaurants tend to put way too much mayo on sandwiches for my liking), but unfortunately they put the mayo on my sandwich :( I ended up scrapping most of it off with a knife.
I did like that it was a grilled real chicken breast in my sandwich and not some sort of chicken loaf full of fillers. It also had lettuce and tomatoes so I could pretend I was being somewhat healthy, lol. It came with 2 huge onion rings that were delicious (although I gave the hubby one of them). There was also melted cheese and BBQ sauce in the sandwich. The hoagie roll was great too (it was substantial and held the contents of the sandwich nicely).
The accompanying fries were ok. I liked that they were hand cut with the skins on but I found them a tad starchy.
My husband liked his meal. I was happy to see that the Liver and Onions came with a small serving of carrots. Usually this dish is devoid of vegetables at other restaurants.
My father-in-law was unimpressed with his meal. He ate it, but didn't really like it, and said "I don't think this place is a repeat visit." Admittedly, the pizza did not look very good to me either. It looked very doughy and very cheesy. I personally prefer thin crust and with not too much cheese, so I'm really glad I didn't order the pizza, but this all depends on preference I guess, since some people like extra cheesy and doughy (but apparently not my father-in-law).
Our server was Jodi and she was a doll, very friendly and nice.
It's called a diner, but I'd say it's like a diner/bar since there is a full bar and even seating at the bar like typical bars. Inside it looks more like a pub than a diner too. There are several big flat screen TVs showing sports. There are a few booths in addition to tables and chairs. The ceiling has some exposed piping that gives it a cool industrial edge. It's definitely not old school malt shop diner decor like Mars Diner in Toronto or the now defunct Dick's Drive In and Dairy Dip that was here in Ottawa, which is what I was expecting from the name, though not a criticism, just an observation, as I quite like the decor at Scotty's. We were there over the holidays, so the place had huge snowflakes hanging from the ceiling and even a cut out Grinch behind the bar, lol.
The restaurant is in a strip mall in Bells Corners so there is a lot of free parking. It's next to the Bio-Test Laboratory and in the same strip mall as I Cook Pho You. -

My dad kept raving about this diner and he finally talked me into giving Scotty's a chance tonight since its in his "neck of the woods."
It was a super quiet evening when we showed up for dinner around 5ish. The first thing I noticed was how quaint and cozy it was in the restaurant. The interior was dark/semi modern and perfectly fitting for a snowy evening. There are lots of booths by the window and some stand alone tables followed by their lovely bar that also offers seating. They have plenty of TV's around and one flat screen at the bar. I could definitely see regulars coming here for a beer to unwind or sitting at the bar for coffee in the mornings reading the paper.
The menu is fairly large and its your typical diner kinda of grub. I wasn't too hungry, but as I glanced their menu, their east coast garlic fingers with donair sauce caught my eye (see photo attached). I have to say it was just OK, it was a tad greasy, but was flavorful and the crust was good. The donair sauce was just OK as well. We asked for an extra one when ordering but didn't actually end up needing it in the end. That cost us an extra $1.50
The hubby ordered the poutine and it came with a nice dark gravy and cheese curds (see photo attached). It was pretty good, I snuck in a bite or two. My dad ordered the fish and chips and he gave it two thumbs up.
Service was friendly and inviting and our waitress checked in on us at the appropriate times.
I also really enjoyed that they had some cool historical maps of Bells Corners on the restaurant wall. Really neat to look at.
There is one washroom for mens and one for ladies. Bathroom was clean and modern.
I can see this restaurant being a big hit to the locals. Their menu has literally something for everyone. The food may not be 5 stars, as its just your typical diner food, but the environment and cozyness of the restaurant makes me a fan. -

Went here for breakfast on Grey Cup Sunday and the food was fabulous (great sausage and pancakes). Service was very friendly and quick. Excited to try lunch and dinner there as I'm sure it's just as good

My wife and I just enjoyed a perfectly cooked classic breakfast of eggs over easy, sausages and home-fries. Four or five bread choices available (English muffin for me-dark rye for Marj).
Very friendly atmosphere with fairly prompt service. You can tell that there are many regulars enjoying their visit and their plates looked good too.
Very clean and appears well run with iPad order-taking, lots of local newspapers to borrow AND A BAR. Yes, they're licensed with a few flat screens and some beer specials. So it might be a decent spot to wander into to watch a game.
We'll go back to check out their burgers and pizza soon.
By the way-very reasonable prices.
